International Poetry Night

Thank you to all the individuals who made International Poetry Night a success!  Special thanks to all the individuals who read a poem in two languages – it was thrilling to hear all these languages spoken in one room here in Happy Valley!  Thank you to the event organizers, Deb and Bob for putting together a very special evening.

Global Connections Dinner at Little Szechuan

This week Global Connections members and guests gathered for a special dinner at Little Szechuan in downtown State College.  The dishes for the meal were selected by Sihan Liu, a student from China.  She also shared food culture and traditions with the group.  Attendees learned more about how and when specific dishes would be served and more about some of the ingredients.

The food was shared family-style, allowing for guests to try all the different menu items to be brought to the table.  Many commented that they had been coming to Little Szechuan for years but had not tried most of the  dishes sampled that night.  Favorite new dishes included the fried tofu, curried lamb, peppercorn chicken, and the stir fried green beans.
